Christopher Alden's Norma and A Midsummer Night's Dream receive International Awards and Recognition

Stage Director Christopher Alden is enjoying a string of successes this season with award-winning productions worldwide. His recent production of Offenbach's La Perichole at New York City Opera was met with the highest critical and audience acclaim. "This is an exhilarating staging with a wonderful cast that seems inspired by Mr. Alden's concept for this tale of two street singers" (New York Times).

Mr. Alden's production of Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Stanislavsky Theater in Moscow is the winner of "Best Opera Production" at the 2013 Golden Mask Awards in Russia. Norma at Opera North (co-production with Theater Chemnitz) received "Best Achievement in Opera" from the Theatrical Management Association Awards and received a nomination for "Best New Production" in the inaugural International Opera Awards.

Winner of the prestigious Olivier Award for "Best U.K. Opera Production" in 2009 and the Australian Helpmann Award in 2011 for "Best Opera", Mr. Alden's highly-acclaimed production of Handel's Partenope opened in Melbourne, Australia on May 2, 2013.

Mr. Alden is currently collaborating with renowned Paris architect, Jean Nouvel, Paris couturier Azzedine Alaia and conductor Gustavo Dudamel on a new, fully staged production of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, premiering May 17, 2013 in Los Angeles at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
