Chucho Valdés wins at 52nd Annual Grammy Awards

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 31, 2010)

The father/son duo of Bebo and Chucho Valdés has taken home the 2010 Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album for Juntos Para Siempre. This is the fourth Grammy win for Chucho, whose most recent win had been in 2003 for his recording Live at the Village Vanguard. Bebo Valdés is a Cuban pianist, bandleader, composer , arranger and multi-grammy winner in his own right.

The Goodwill Ambassador of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Chucho Valdés is revered as one "the dean of Latin jazz" and "one of the world's great virtuosic pianists" by The New York Times. Multi-Grammy Award winner Chucho Valdés has recorded over eighty CDs during his illustrious career, performing with countless jazz masters, including Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis and Chick Corea.

Founder of the rhythmically innovative Latin jazz band Irakere, Valdés has appeared on the distinguished stages of Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center and The Hollywood Bowl.
